Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 2 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree room temperature
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1/3 cup full-fat milk warm
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast

For the Topping

  • 1 egg for brushing
  • Some melted butter for brushing

Instructions

Dough Preparation

  • Mix the warm milk, instant yeast, and brown sugar in a bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In another bowl, combine the bread flour, salt, canned pumpkin, melted butter, the large egg, and honey.
  • Pour in the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.

Kneading and First Rise

  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place it in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Shaping and Second Rise

  • After the dough has risen, punch it down to release air.
  • Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
  • Place them in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brush the tops of the rolls with a beaten egg.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Finishing Touches

  • Once baked, take the rolls out and brush them with melted butter for a shiny finish.
  • Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve these rolls warm or at room temperature. They pair well with butter, honey, or your favorite spread. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, refrigerate for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months. Warm before serving.
